British rock band Coldplay are to release a possible final album named ‘A Head Full of Dreams’ on December 4th. The band has had great success since 1996 including top hits ‘Paradise’ and ‘Viva la Vida’ and now it seems as if they have come to the end of their journey, but don’t fret, they are planning on ending it on a big note. The “Fix You” artists have collaborated in the past with the unlikely likes of Rihanna when creating a successful hit “Princess of China” and now they have announced that iconic artists such as Beyoncé, Tove Lo and Noel Gallagher are to feature on their final album. On the 5th November, Coldplay released a stream of the first official track of the album titled ‘Adventure of a Lifetime’ which was played on Radio 1 and 2 for the first time today. The band have stated that they are going for a disco inspired album with energetic vibes, you can listen to the new track below.
The popular band has reached number one success in the UK with all of their 6 previous albums, in fact, their last album, Ghost Stories, was the fourth-best selling of 2014 with a massive 3.7 million copies sold worldwide and furthermore, won a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album.
In an interview with Zane Lowe, vocalist and pianist Chris Martin hinted that the record could be the band’s last, saying: “It’s our seventh thing, and the way we look at it, it’s like the last Harry Potter book or something like that. Not to say that there might not be another thing one day, but this is the completion of something… I have to think of it as the final thing we’re doing. Otherwise we wouldn’t put everything into it.”
Martin said: “We’d love to do it. That’s our spiritual home as a band. Maybe we should have called ahead and asked them.”
