Pinkpantheress has shared the tracklist for her upcoming second mixtape, titled ‘Fancy That’. The bedroom-pop/alt artist dropped the first single ‘Tonight’ last week. She then revealed the new mixtape’s tracklist on social media last night (April 6).
She posted the project’s tracklist after interacting with fans – one asked her to release the track ‘Romeo’, which was teased on TikTok last year. She then wrote: “Posting da tracklist early just to let you all know that it’s track NINE.”
The ‘Fancy That’ tracklist is full of other new songs, including the previously teased ‘Tonight’, her recently released bouncy new single that was accompanied by a Bridgerton-inspired music video. The clip features horse-drawn carriages, penny farthings and Pinkpantheress and her friends dressed in 1800’s regency outfits. The song also samples a deep cut from Panic! At The Disco’s 2008 album ‘Pretty. Odd’, called ‘Do You Know What I’m Seeing?’.
The Kent-born singer recently told Mixmag that she was inspired by the sounds of Fatboy Slim and Groove Armada while making this new tape: “I loved the size of the music,” she says. “All the music sounds so big and grand and present, and I really wanted to make music where it sounds like a statement is being made with the songs. I feel like that was what appealed to me, and it’s something that I wanted to take on board.”
She also reflected on the reception of her first two projects, her first mixtape ‘To Hell With It’ in 2021, and her debut album ‘Heaven Knows’ in 2023. “My first project was more gritty and DIY so had a much younger fanbase who liked that, whereas my album was more appreciated by proper music nerds who appreciated the cleanliness or mixing. It was cool to see that versatility. But I always love the grittiness and the DIY, and for this upcoming project I asked the mixers to not make it too clean because I like the way my voice sounds when it’s not too polished.”
The tracklist for Pinkpantheress’ ‘Fancy That’ is as follows:
1. ‘Illegal’
2. ‘Girl Like Me’
3. ‘Tonight’
4. ‘Stars’
5. ‘Intermission’
6. ‘Noises’
7. ‘Nice To Know You’
8. ‘Stateside’
9. ‘Romeo’
