Pete Doherty has announced three new intimate UK acoustic shows. The frontman for indie rock band The Libertines is hitting the road for some gigs kicking off at Riverside in Newcastle next Monday on July 19. This also happens to be the day that all lockdown restrictions are lifted which Doherty surely had in mind when he planned the shows.
Following on from Newcastle he will then play The Welly in Hull on July 20 and then the next night (July 21) at The Venue in Derby. Tickets for the shows are set to go on sale this Wednesday on July 14 at 10 am BST. Fans can purchase them here.

As well as these intimate shows Doherty previously announced he was set to return with a gig at Camden’s Powerhaus, formerly Dingwalls, on July 3. However, that is now taking place on July 24 due to the original date for the lifting of lockdown restrictions moving.
The singer/songwriters band The Libertines are also set to perform four shows at Kentish Town’s O2 Forum this December as part of their Winter ‘Giddy Up A Ding-Dong’ tour.
The band previously made a statement about these shows earlier this year “The Libertines are pleased as punch to announce a fifteen-date Christmas jaunt across the UK in November and December, including two shows at London’s O2 Forum the scene of the bands legendary shows in December 2003.”
The group are also working on the follow-up to their 2015 album ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth’. The band’s guitarist Carl Barat previously told NME in an interview “It’s been going well, but it’s been difficult with COVID,” Barat explained. “We started writing here, and that was going really well but John [Hassall, bass] is in Denmark and Pete [Doherty] is in France. It’s been a fucker to travel.”
