British music icon and former bassist for The Beatles Sir Paul McCartney has announced the release of his first new music in five years – a full-length album called “Eygpt Station”.
The album is a follow-up to 2013’s LP “NEW”, and is out September 7th via Capitol. Since 2013, he has re-issued a number of his old records, such as “Flowers In The Dirt” and “Thrillington”, collaborated with Kanye West on tracks like “FourFiveSeconds”, “All Day”, and “Only One”, played the drums on a Foo Fighters record and cameoed in a Pirates Of The Carribean movie – but this marks his first full-length release in that time.
In addition to the album announcement itself, Paul Mccartney also released the first two singles from the upcoming release, in the form of a double A-side. The two tracks are called “I Don’t Know” and “Come On To Me” and are available to stream now.
In a press release, Mccartney explained that he settled on the name “Eygypt Station” for its nostalgia, saying: “It reminded me of the ‘album’ albums we [The Beatles] used to make.” He went on to explain that the album would start at Egypt Station, but each track would represent another station on the journey, with Eygypt Station acting as “a dream location that the music emanates from”.
“Eygypt Station” is available to stream and purchase from September 7th, and is available for pre-order now.
