Indie rock band Pale Waves have released their second album Who Am I? following the success of their first album My Mind Makes Noises in 2018. The album features 11 tracks, including previously released singles Change, She’s My Religion, Easy, You Don’t Own Me and Fall To Pieces.
Lead singer Heather Baron-Gracie explained that the album closely reflects the moment she was at in her life when she wrote it and that she struggled to come up with a title at first. In an interview with iHeartRadio, she said: “Then one day when I was on tour, I was feeling super vulnerable and super depressed and low. Sadness was just burning throughout my body, and I wrote the song ‘Who Am I?,’ which pretty much summarizes this album. I feel like it’s sort of me wanting to make a change in my life and me yearning to become the better version of me and figuring out the directions in how I can achieve that.”
Pale Waves have also announced that tickets for UK and Ireland tour in 2022 are on sale now and can be bought on their website. Fans can expect to see the band perform songs from their latest album as well as popular tracks from the first album such as There’s A Honey and Television Romance.
One of their recent singles in Who Am I?, Easy was accompanied by a music video. Heather Baron-Gracie expressed that the song was very personal to her, saying: “Easy’ is about me finding love, but the right sort of love. True love has taught me so many lessons, like how to become a better person, and how to love parts of myself that I used to hate. It’s amazing how one person can do that for you.”
“I’m really thankful that Pale Waves finally has a genuine, sincere love song. Before, I felt like I couldn’t really write a true love song because I would have been faking it. I don’t feel like I’ve truly, truly been in love up until now. ‘Easy’ just sort of poured out with me.”
