Hitting cinemas on 2 October, the trailer to a documentary entitled Supersonic based on the Oasis brother’s (Liam and Noel Gallagher) humble childhood, to their immense rise to legendary status as rock gods, has been released. The film shows the contrasts between their early lives on a council estate to rock stardom and tabloid fame as self-confessed “head-cases.”
The trailer shows how Oasis were signed “there and then” and how the 90s were the perfect times to live in and perform in. Tabloid fame exploded and the trailer emphasises how it brought Oasis to “the dark side”.
Formed in 1991, original fans of Oasis – following them from their ground breaking 1993 debut album, Definitely Maybe – will know a lot about their history because of their zenith fame in the mid-90s. But Oasis have attracted fans of many differing generations: Supersonic will allow all fans to access a historic story. Their most recent and seventh studio album was Dig Out Your Sole in 2008.
Famous for their fights, falling outs, and arguments – including their famous ‘split’ in 2009 – the brothers attended frequent interviews and recorded voiceovers separately. Directed by Mat Whitecross, he has suggested the possibility of a reunion, stating:
“Neither of them have discounted the idea of getting back together. It will happen, I’m sure. The idea of never seeing them again for me is impossible.”
Whitecross also added that Coldplay’s Chris Martin was to be helping to join the brother’s hands back together. It has not been announced if both Liam and Noel will be attending the premiere to Supersonic.
Liam Gallagher recently tweeted:
“Just seen the trailer for oasis film i must say I do come across mighty fine super real unlike some people see you at the premiere LG x.”
