Accusations began to surface at the beginning of the week, from a wide and varied range of sources, most of whom appeared to be fans of the band, who had met the band after gigs in the past. The band have issued a statement in response, saying that whilst they while they ‘complete support victims of sexual assault and respect their bravery’, they ‘100% deny’ all of these accusations. You can read the full statement in the tweet below.

Despite the band looking to pursue legal action against what is most likely their own fans, the repercussions for their alleged behaviour have already begun, with NME cancelling a gig that the band were scheduled to play for them last night. In an official statement of their own, NME wrote: “NME has been made aware of a number of allegations that have been made on social media against the band Nothing But Thieves and we have therefore taken the decision to cancel the show that the band were scheduled to play for us.”
July Talk, who were scheduled to be supporting their band on their current UK tour- still due to resume next week- have pulled out of proceedings, taking to Facebook to explain their reasoning for doing so. “We can no longer participate due to accounts we’ve read online of misconduct,” They wrote.”Because we don’t anticipate this issue being resolved within the remaining show dates, we have to step away. We hope that increased awareness will bring positive change to an industry that so desperately needs it.”
