Scottish singer and songwriter Nina Nesbitt shares a brand new single “Summer Fling“, the first song from her third and upcoming album. The track has been fully written and produced by the singer.
The new release is her first solo track since the album “The Sun Will Come Up, The Seasons Will Change” from 2019. The new single is soaked in dreamy, nostalgic synth 80’s vibes and nodding to the sound of Abba. That singer has a Swedish background as her mother is originally from Sweden which can explain the influence.
Nesbitt said that the song is “inspired by wanting to escape. I always caught myself dreaming of going back to Sweden to spend the summer there, so it’s a fantasy of that world. Where there’s no stress“.

In conversation with Bustle, Nina Nesbitt said: “I’m currently staying at my mom’s house, and I’ve set up a little studio in the cat’s room, So that’s where [the new single “Summer Fling”] was made. It was written, produced, and formed in the cat’s room, not where I expected to be making my third album, but you know, COVID“. The title of the upcoming album is still unknown.
Nesbitt released the new single in the perfect timing of the warmest summer months: “I wrote it one day when the weather was sh*t and I needed summer in my life”. “People don’t deserve to be done dirty like this and be sent ballads right now. They need positive vibes” she explained.
The singer also shared a video for “Summer Fling“, directed by Wolf James. In the clip, we can watch Nesbitt performing acrobatic moves on an aerial hoop to the track lyrics: “Salt waves on an ocean drive/ Left hand in between my thighs/ Sunsets on a rosé sky/ We’re drinking that southern wine/ Spark up in the neon light/ Touch mе like I’m dynamite/ Won’t you give me everything?/ Love me like a summer fling”. She uses her background as a gymnast to deliver a stunning performance.
The acrobatic moves on the hoop were inspired by Pink: “I saw Pink live on tour when I was like 13, and I remember thinking, ‘This is the most incredible thing ever. I want to do that!”. Watch the video below.
