Since releasing a previously unheard Oasis demo, believed by former band member Noel Gallagher to have been “lost forever,” feedback for new track Don’t Stop… have been broadly positive. As heralded in a recent Guardian headline, “optimistic lost song is a minor gem,” with reviewer Alexis Petridis asserting that “it’s one of Gallagher’s more appealing latter-day efforts,” highlighting a riff that is “knowingly swiped” from Let it Be‘s “Dig a Pony“.
Something for everyone, then.
Elsewhere, in their review, NME identified the bright-side quality of the song’s lyrics and acclaimed it as being “somehow perfect for right now.” Specifying the forward-thinking attitude exemplified in “that classic, elliptical Noel song title,” reviewer Jordan Bassett praised the “great little boogie-woogie guitar lick” which wriggles into being at the three-minute mark, Gallagher’s lyrics thereafter reminding us that we’ll soon be “side-by-side.”
As stated by Noel Gallagher in a pre-release tweet, the demo had started life as an Oasis soundcheck recorded in Hong Kong, which had then sat for fifteen years among hundreds of other unmarked CDs in Noel’s home. Having had a surplus of free time to sort through personal effects, Gallagher took the time to gift this hidden gem to fans online, making the announcement in a Twitter post that was, appropriately, presented in the shape of an inverted Christmas tree.

However, the most apparent ill-will against the new track has come from Gallagher’s younger brother Liam, who responded to the song with this particularly bitchy tweet:
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

If that weren’t enough, little brother Liam also offered some insightful criticism against the demo, employing his characteristic abandon with improper grammar: “Well there’s something missing in this god almighty stew and it’s your brother your brother don’t forget your brother La as you were LG x”
You can’t win ‘em all, I suppose.
