Songwriter and former Oasis lead guitarist Noel Gallagher took to Twitter earlier today to announce the midnight release of a previously unheard demo, which he found among the hundreds of unmarked CDs stored in his home.
Outlining how, “like the rest of the world I’ve had infinite time to kill lately,” Gallagher began sorting through the “HUNDREDS of faceless unmarked cd’s I’ve got lying around in boxes at home” to discover an old demo previously believed to have been “lost forever.”
Revealing the song’s title, Don’t Stop, Gallagher announced that the track would “be up on the internet by midnight” (00:00, April 30th, 2020). Supposing that only one version of this song previously exists, in the form of an Oasis soundcheck recorded in Hong Kong fifteen years ago, Gallagher seems excited about the impending drop of this hidden gem.
“I know some of you love this tune,” he wrote, “so we thought we’d put it ‘out there’ for you to enjoy/argue over.”

If nothing else, this post is visually appealing for its use of central text alignment, making the text look like an inverted Christmas tree. Which is an appropriate, given that Mr. Gallagher has chosen to grace his fans in these troubled times with a gift like this. While the likelihood of an Oasis reunion has been doubtful at best, following Noel’s heated departure in 2009, there is high demand for the band to get back together coming from Noel’s brother, Liam.
At the end of March, Liam – again, like his sibling – took to Twitter, demanding a reunion for their arena-selling band. Exercising a weaker understanding of proper grammar than his older brother, the post read: “I DEMAND an oasis reunion after this is all over all money going to NHS c’mon you know As we were LG.”
Given the slim chances of this dream coming to fruition, Oasis fans can rejoice nevertheless for big brother Noel’s rediscovery and wrap their ears around Don’t Stop, which you can hear from midnight tonight.
