The Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger has today released a statement describing how he is “struggling to understand” the death of his partner L’Wren Scott. After it was announced yesterday that Scott had died, several questions have been raised about the circumstances of her death and some have even gone as far to question the state of the relationship between Scott and Jagger.
Since the news broke, The Rolling Stones have understandably announced the cancellation of their planned show tomorrow evening (19th March) in Perth, Australia. It has now also been confirmed that the remainder of the band’s tour will be postponed until further notice.
L’Wren Scott was found dead in her Manhattan home on Monday morning and the 49-year old fashion designer is believed by most to have committed suicide, although the reasons for this are currently unclear. Medical examiners are yet to definitively determine the cause of Scott’s death but speculation has already been rife throughout the tabloids; The Guardian website even features a comment piece describing the ‘lurid’ behaviour of tabloid journalists covering the subject.
With some sources claiming that Jagger and Scott had split before her death it is hard to get a grasp on which aspects of what is being reported are facts. However, in the statement released by Jagger today he spoke of how he identified Scott as his “lover and best friend” and gave no impression of a possible split with Scott before her death.
