Electronic pop group Metronomy have announced that they will be performing at Pitchfork Music Festival Paris on 22nd November. They will be appearing alongside other popular acts, such as Cassandra Jenkins and Sons of Kemet. The band announced a one-off performance at the Louis Vuitton Foundation on their social media.

The band, which was founded by lead member Joseph Mount, started out in 1999, with Mount making music in his bedroom, before expanding his act into the group it is today. The other members include Michael Lovett (on keyboards and guitar), Olugbenga Adelekan (on bass guitar and vocals), Anna Prior (on drums and vocals), and Mount’s cousin Oscar Cash (on saxophone, guitars and keyboards).
The announcement seems to be one of many signs indicating increased activity for the group, ever since postponing their Metronomy Forever European tour dates due to the pandemic. Since then, the band have released a new EP, September’s Posse EP Volume 1, which saw them collaborating with artists such as Irish singer Biig Piig, rapper Brian Nasty, and the Indie band Folly Group.
They have also released a music video for their new single, “It’s Good to Be Back”. Mount describes it as simply being ‘all about how good it is to be back’. The video, which was directed by Dreamjob duo Jack Whiteley and Joe Wills, shows the band playing about in a woodland setting. Rolling Stone magazine reports it as showing ‘the band members living out a Groundhog Day scenario of dying and then living the same thing over and over’. It comes from their soon-to-be-released new album, Small World, which is due on February 18th. It will be the band’s seventh album, following up 2019’s well-received Metronomy Forever. For fans ever more eager to see the band play, tomorrow (November 11th) they are due to play a live-streamed event at London’s Colour Factory, which is available through tickets only. The band call it ‘an album launch show’, saying ‘we’re gonna be playing loads of great new songs, loads of great old songs, we’re gonna be dressed to impress, and we’re gonna be having the time of our lives’.
