Massive Attack are set to headline the Barclaycard British Summer Time festival in London on July 1st 2016.
Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time is a series of day long festivals that take place in London’s Hyde Park, during, you guessed, summer. The headliners for this year have been particularly impressive so far, with Kendrick Lamar and Florence and the Machine headlining the 2nd of July, Mumford & Sons on July 7th, Take That taking over July 8th and now Massive Attack have been announced as the headliners of the first in the series of summertime gigs.
The Bristolian trip-hoppers Massive Attack are to “bring a new and provocative audio-visual live show to Hyde Park”, the festival announced in a statement, with the set being designed by Robert Del Naja and visual arts collaborators United Visual Artists.
They will also be joined by a solid lineup of supporting acts performing on the day, including Warpaint, Ghostpoet, Patti smith, TV on the Radio and Mercury Prize winners and recent Massive Attack collaborators Young Fathers. Tickets go on general sale on Friday, March 11th.
The other lineups include Jamie XX, Blood Orange, Cat Power and jazz virtuoso/Kendrick Lamar collaborator Kamasi Washington supporting Kendrick and Florence. Meanwhile Mystery Jets, Wolf Alice, Alabama Shakes and Baio of Vampire Weekend will play on Mumford And Sons’ day.
