Massive Attack have teased the artwork and tracklisting for their upcoming EP Ritual Spirit, a day after releasing a new app called ‘Fantom’. This will be Massive Attacks first major release since 2010’s Heligoland.
The reveal came in the form of 3D (real name Robert Del Naja) posting a photo of what appears to be a vinyl sleeve of their forthcoming release on his Instagram. The post didn’t include a caption, but the back of the vinyl sleeve is shown in the image, which reveals the tracklisting for the EP. The four tracks from the new app make appearance, which include “Dead Editors,” “Ritual Spirit,” “Voodoo in My Blood,” and “Take It There.” The tracklisting also reveals that Roots Manuva, Tricky and Young Fathers will all be appearing on the EP. What isn’t clear just yet is whether this will be a full album or just an EP, nor for that matter is any sort of date attached to the release yet. You can check out the photo posted below:
A day before this teaser surfaced Massive Attack had released a new app called ‘Fantom’. The app, which feature music from the EP, touts itself as a “sensory music player” that remixes music from the EP using data from your iPhone. A description on the ‘Fantom’ website claims: “The remixes reflect your movement and balance, the time of day or night, your location and your surroundings as captured by your device’s camera”, with data from you heartbeat being used as well if you have an Apple Watch.
