Welsh rock band Manic Street Preachers yesterday debuted their Welsh anthem for the upcoming football tournament Euro 2016 next month.
Footage of the song can be found below:
The show in Swansea was a gig to celebrate twenty years since the release of album ‘Everything Must Go’. The band also performed ‘Everything Must Go’ in it’s entirety.
Formed in 1986, Manic Street Preachers burst onto the scene with their debut album ‘Generation Terrorists’ in 1992. The album was met with widespread success but perhaps not as much success as was first hoped for. With the album having enjoyed an incredulous amount of hype and press attention, with both the band and the record label predicting that the album would sell sixteen million copies around the world from ‘Bangkok to Senegal’.
Manic Street Preachers will be hoping that their song brings success to the Welsh national football team who are partaking in their first appearance in a major international tournament for years. Wales are in the same group as England so we can expect a great deal of rivalry between the two nations; no doubt the Welsh fans travelling to France will be singing the Manic Street Preachers song! Or at least I imagine that is what the band will be hoping.
