British Reggae veteran Macka B has announced on his official Instagram page that he will be making an exclusive performance at the Black Beauty and Fashion Awards Diaspora 2020 which, according to Blacknet, will be taking place as a live streamed online event as the ceremony prepares to ‘go digital,’ this year. The website goes on to invite us to join them for the event ‘whether you are based in South America, Europe, Africa, the Caribbean or the United States.’ The site is also exited to announce the appearance of ‘Internationally renowned Artist Macka B,’ as well as others yet to be anounced.
Organisers for the show say that Macka B will be performing a song which he has written especially for the occasion and presenting an award for Best Natural Hair Care Product, as well as giving some of his best health tips throughout. He is said to have been brilliant to work with and his fans will certainly be exited to hear a brand new song from the artist. Tickets for the event, which is taking place on the 28th of October at 8pm, are available via eventbrite and are available for free or paid tickets are available which allow attendees to be entered into a £50 prize draw.
According to University of Arts London, ‘the Black Beauty and Fashion (BBF Awards) were created by London College of Fashion (LCF) alumna Cheryl Jumbo in 2018, to give customers from the African Diaspora awareness of brands that care and cater to their needs.’ With the awards now entering their third year the appearance of Macka B will certainly be a strong draw to the show for musical reasons which may extend the crowd beyond those attending for the fashion and beauty.
Macka B, who is very active on his Youtube channel uploading regular musical content as well as videos promoting the healthy vegan lifestyle which he endorses. His Medical Monday videos which discuss various aspects of health and lifestyle are interspersed with regular musical content including remixes and featured artists such as Ted Ganung who appeared on his recent song ‘Stop It, Idiot Ting,’ which covers the difficult topic of domestic arguments and the negative consequences which can come from these.
Macka B has been releasing socially conscious music since 1986 with his first album ‘Sign Of The Times,’ which came out on Reggae producer Mad Professor’s label Ariwa. Since then, he has released another 20 albums with the most recent ‘Health is Wealth,’ premiering in 2017 and focusing on his positive outlook and lifestyle choice of Veganism as well as his ongoing commitment to Rastafarianism.
As well as appearing at the Black Beauty and Fashion Awards Diaspora 2020 live streamed event, Macka B has plans to return to live performance in the flesh in April of 2021 and has a number of UK tour dates planned in the South of England which are as follows:
