London’s hottest festival, ALT- LDN, is days away from hosting Architects, Playboi Carti, and so many other big names racing to showcase their music released during the lockdown. With bands like Sleep Token rearing up to their new album, Wargasm still hot on the Download Hype, and The Kid Laroi who is yet to play the new song Stay, which features Justin Bieber, in Britain. However, just on the heels of pulling out of Reading and Leeds, Machine Gun Kelly has been forced to pull out of the event. MGK, who has made a name for his outlandish reimage as a pop-punk star, has been a highlight for many on British festival line-ups has been forced to drop all UK appearances. which in their press realize they stated this is “due to restrictions and logistics”.
He is not alone, however. Princess Nokia, Mario Judah, Lil Skies, and Chase Atlantic, are among others forced to drop out by the Coronavirus restrictions pressing down on traveling artists. To the joy, or sadness, of fans, artists are being brought in last minute to cover for those forced to drop out. With bands like Blossoms being brought in to cover stage times, festivals all across the UK are feeling the effects of the virus. With Slamdunk recently suffering at the hands of it, it was clear that Reading and Alt+Ldn were doomed to be next.
With great acts still to follow on the festival’s lineup, it is well worth the ticket price- even if just for Wargasm. Who recently burst open the K pit in anticipation for the 30th. As well as, the promise of hearing Whole Lotta Red in the flesh, Who could say no to the summer’s hottest day festival.
