Cambridge alternative rock quintet Lonely The Brave premiered a brand new track ‘Bright Eyes‘ off their upcoming record The Hope List due out on 22 January 2021 via Easy Life Records. This is their fourth official single this year, following the release of ‘Bound‘, ‘Distant Light‘ and ‘Open Door‘, all set to feature on the highly anticipated new album. Judging by all recent songs The Hope List is shaping to be a powerful comeback, and is already available to pre-order on standard CD and LP here.
The forthcoming third studio album is their first new material in almost five years, following Things Will Matter from mid-2016. It is also the first to feature new singer Jack Bennett who joined the band in 2018, following the departure of David Jakes. For their new release, Lonely The Brave have signed to Easy Live Records – an independent London label established in 2014 and already boosting an impressive portfolio of albums by Amber Run, Waterparks, Lower Than Atlantis, Normadie, and many more.
‘Bright Eyes‘ represents everything Lonely The Brave stand for – dreamy alternative rock, rich melodies and infectious hooks. Guitarist Mark Trotter and Ross Smithwick lead the track forward with powerful riffs while singer Jack Bennett delivers a spectacular vocal performance, seemlessly soaring above the energetic rhythm section. Speaking about the meaning of the single, Bennett says:
“Bright Eyes was a song that came together about the importance of listening. Are we just trying to one up each other? Are we really just pointing people out now? What happened to being conversational?! It was a look into social and targeted media and people simply adhering to it rather than looking or talking about evidence and facts and considering the other side of things.”
The track follows the direction of the three previously released singles and gives a good indication on what The Hope List will sound like. Back in April, Lonely The Brave premiered the emotional track ‘Bound‘ as their first single in four years. During the summer, the Cambridge quintet added two more tracks ‘Distant Light‘ and ‘Open Door‘ announcing the album’s release date and full tracklist. ‘Open Door‘ was later accompanied by beautiful official video directed by Daniel Broadley and premiered in September.

Lonely The Brave are Jack Bennett (vocals), Mark Trotter (lead guitar), Gavin Edgeley (drums), Andrew Bushnen (bass), and Ross Smithwick (rhythm guitar). The band formed in 2008 and have since released two official records, occupying a niche spot between dreamy indie music and powerfull stadium alt-rock, and quickly capturing the hearts of fans and critics alike. Their debut album The Day’s War (2014) peaked at #14 at the UK Albums Charts, followed by Things Will Matter (2016) at #35, both topping the official rock charts at the time.
The band return to touring in April 2021 in support of their third album, starting from Brighton on the 11th and ending with a London gig on the 21st that has recently been upgraded to The Dome due to popular demand. Lonely The Brave are expected to perform at the 2000 Trees 2021 Festival, supporting Jimmy Eat World on 8 July, alongside Creeper, Dinasaur Pile-Up, The Menzingers, The Get Up Kids, Anti-Flag, Crossfaith, Royal Republic and many more.
