Indie pop trio London Grammar have shared news about their new single on Twitter describing it as: “This song is about my journey letting go of the past and learning how to write music after a difficult time with my health. I use the idea of the American dream to wave goodbye to things I didn’t need anymore”.
Our new song America is out today. This song is about my journey letting go of the past and learning how to write music after a difficult time with my health. I use the idea of the American dream to wave goodbye to things I didn’t need anymore https://t.co/VIAGd3X2cp pic.twitter.com/YKIojCUL9y

Singer Hannah Reid spoke recently on ‘The Zane Lowe Show’ that track ‘America’ was one of the first ones written for the forthcoming album. She said: “But ironically I kind of wrote it as a goodbye to all the songs that I thought I wouldn’t write because I wasn’t sure if I was really cut out for the [music] industry or… my own personal American dream”. Then she added: “So I remember writing that song, it just came out so quickly and I was crying at the piano and then I thought, you know, I’m just going to play it to the boys, but I don’t think I can make another album again. And I played it to the boys and then, sure enough, they played me something”. She continued: “what is really amazing is that I just felt like we turned that into something kind of beautiful. And so we turned it into something really positive”.
The new song ‘America’ is the latest single of the group’s upcoming third album ‘Californian Soil’ that is due on the 16th April. The album will include other latest releases: ‘How Does It Feel‘, co-produced by Steve Mac and ‘Lose Your Head‘ co-produced by George FitzGerald.
Spoke to @zanelowe on @applemusic about our new release America and how it began the process of making the new album. Always love speaking with Zane and his support of our music is greatly appreciated. https://t.co/gPjxcG3GJq pic.twitter.com/TkkXeHS2NT

Vinyl of the album will also be released via Norman Records. They describe it: “The subject matter is misogyny in the music industry suffered by singer Hannah Reid and the perils of success and how they’ve overcome them. Musically ‘Californian Soil’ sees London Grammar straying even further into the mainstream, the lead title-track sounding like Florence & The Machine if shot by a tranquilizer”.
New London Grammar single is available now on all music platforms and the album ‘Californian Soil’ can be pre-ordered in here.
