Lizzo has announced that she will be returning to the UK, later this year, as part of a nine date tour of the UK and Europe. The ‘Juice’ singer, who won huge praise for her Glastonbury performance, last month, will return, in November 2019, for her biggest European shows to date.
The American ringer and rapper, whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson, will kick start her nine date tour, on the 4th of November 2019, in Paris, at Salle Pleyel, before concluding almost three weeks later, on the 19th of November 2019, in Copenhagen, at Store Vega.
The nine date tour will also feature the singer’s biggest UK shows to date, which she will commence, on the 6th of November 2019, at London’s O2 Academy before concluding the UK leg of the tour, on the 11th of November 2019, at O2 Victoria Warehouse, in Manchester. The full list of dates can be seen below and tickets will be going on sale, this Friday the 12th of July, at 10am, and can be purchased here.
The tour announcement comes after Lizzo dropped her third album, ‘Cuz I Love You’, earlier this year. The follow up to 2015’s ‘Big Grrrl Small World’ featured the lead single ‘Juice’ and contains features from the likes of Missy Elliot and Gucci Mane. The record has received widespread critical acclaim and the rapper has been praised for lyrics, which address topics such as body inclusivity, race and sexuality.
Since her debut album, ‘Lizzobangers’, was released back in 2013, Lizzo has gone on to be one of the most successful acts of 2019, gaining a name for herself and becoming known for her energetic live performances. In a four-star review of Lizzo’s show-stopping performance, on Glastonbury’s West Holts stage, NME described the set as “triumphant, exciting and genuinely inspiring”.
NME’s Hannah Mylrea, continued to write: “She continues preaching to her eager subjects for several minutes, demanding the audience to practise self-love (“I want you to know if you can love me, you can love your goddamn self,”) and encouraging them to go home and practise her mantra of looking at yourself in the mirror and telling yourself” “I love you, you are beautiful and you can do anything.” Around the crowd people are moved to tears, and it’s a genuinely uniting moment.”
