On Monday (July 20) Little Mix took to their social media platforms to announce “Little Mix The Search”, a brand new casting show which will be aired on BBC One this autumn. The competition series has been green-lighted to go ahead if it follows the coronavirus guidelines. Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock will be the judges of the show, with Chris Ramsey hosting the show. Further updates on the programme are yet to be announced.
The show has to follow strict guidelines, as the competing groups will live together for the duration of the show, working together with voice coaches, songwriters and producers from Little Mix’s inner circle. To make sure that all the competitors are healthy, regular tests will be made to be sure that everyone on the show is COVID-negative. Everyone has to practice regular hand-washing and communal areas will regularly be sanitised.
“We can’t wait for everyone to finally see what we’ve been working on because it’s so good! This show is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time”, Perrie Edwards has said. And bandmate Jade Thirlwall added: “The auditions were great fun to film. So much talent auditioned for the show that it was genuinely tough to decide who should go through. There are lots of twists and turns.”

On the casting show, the former X-Factor contestants will form new bands and mentor those. This has already caused a controversy last year: Back in November, X-Factor and Britain’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell has claimed that the concept of the new Little Mix show is too similar to his own newest TV show X Factor: The Band.
The girlband doesn’t seem to be too worried about Cowell’s reaction, as they’re busy with new music: On Friday (July 24), the “Breakup Song” hitmakers are going to release their latest single “Holiday”. Who knows, we might get to see a new girlband cover the Little Mix hit in autumn.
