During the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, a lot of celebrities have been trying to help by donating money to the NHS and funds. Former One Direction singer Liam Payne is one of them. Now he’s found another way of contributing to society: By playing video games for ‘Gamers Without Borders’. Liam revealed that he’s going to play a match of FIFA against Liverpool football player Trent-Alexander Arnold at 6pm on Friday.
The prize fund is holding $10 million and will all be going to charities in order to help fight the coronavirus. The ‘Games Without Borders’ website explains that it is “the gaming world’s biggest battle yet.” It’s being held over seven weeks, and gamers from all around the world can join. The winner can choose the charities to which the prize pool will be donated to.

Liam has kept himself and his fans busy during quarantine with his weekly YouTube series “ #StayHome and Chill #WithMe”.
During these times, covid-19 is not the only thing that has shocked the world. The death of black man George Floyd, caused by police brutality, has also sparked international interest. In many cities all across the globe, people are marching on the streets to protest. One of these protests was held in London yesterday, which Liam attended, as well as his former band colleague Niall Horan.
Out of respect to George Floyd and the situation in America, Liam hasn’t uploaded this week’s episode, in a statement on Twitter he said: “During quarantine I’ve been using this slot to put out a little round up of some of the things going on in my world; which I hope has brought a bit of fun and laughter for people. We made another episode for this week, but the situation that has been unfolding over the last few days in Minneapolis and across America makes it clear that this is no time for anything trivial.”
