Liam Gallagher’s son, Gene, has said that his father has expressed a desire for an Oasis reunion, a sentiment sure to excite fans of the iconic band. The revelation follows a bout of online speculation sparked by the 30th anniversary of their influential debut album Definitely, Maybe.
The reunion buzz intensified earlier this year when the official Oasis X account posted enigmatic aerial footage of a large countryside house on a riverbank. This mysterious post attracted several responses believing it to be a hint towards an impending reunion. However, it was later clarified that the footage was merely a promotional teaser for the release of new limited edition album formats, rather than an announcement of the band’s comeback. Neither Liam or Noel Gallagher have commented publicly on the matter of a potential reunion.

Liam Gallagher has this year been performing on his solo Definitely, Maybe tour, where he has been playing the album in full as part of a solo set.
In an interview with The Times, Gene Gallagher, who now fronts his own band Villanelle, spoke about the possibility of Oasis reuniting. While he denied having any insider knowledge about concrete plans for the band’s future, he shared his insights into his father’s stance on the infamously rocky relationship between Liam and brother Noel Gallagher. “I get the feeling my dad wants it, too,” Gene stated in the Times interview. though he acknowledged the complexities involved, adding, “It’s easier to speak about after a couple of pints”.
Despite admitting that potential reunion discussions are “nothing to do with me,” Gene also acknowledged that he would be personally happy to see the influential Britpop outfit back together.
“I mean, will they? I don’t know. I would love it but it’s so beyond my control,” Gene told The Times. He also revealed that Liam’s favourite Oasis song is Wonderwall, a track frequently performed solo by his uncle Noel Gallagher.
The relationship between the Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, has been notoriously turbulent, leading to Oasis’s split in 2009. Despite this, Gene said he maintains a friendship with Noel’s daughter, Anaïs.
“There’s no way I’m letting Oasis turn into one of these [bands] where you just wrap an album in cellophane every 10 years,” Gene said, perhaps dampening any hopes Oasis fans may harbour for new music in the event of a reunion.
Whatever desire Liam Gallagher may have for to get the band back together, the closest thing to a reunion that brother Noel has touted is his expression of interest in a holographic Oasis show akin to the hit show ABBA Voyage, saying: ““I was very impressed by [ABBA Voyage] to be honest but yeah, if anybody wants to do an Oasis one, give us a shout. I would be bang up for it. I’d say ‘great’, speak to that guy over there and then come up with a figure and then he’ll relay it to me and I’ll say either yes or no.”
