Since lockdown has happened (could not really say it was enforced), lots of industries have taken a big, in some cases, fatal hit. One of such has been the music industry with many venues finding that they do not have the resources or funds to withstand the months of no customers. Needing a hero; one has stood up. Clad in a parka coat, Pretty Green and with an army of angry Mancunians, Liam Gallagher is prepared to take on the government.
In a widely popular move, he took to Twitter to post a staggering fact about the government and how they are refusing to give the music industry £50 million. Though the government has already dished out to close friends of Boris Johnson’s Tim Martin to save Wetherspoons. Not sure about you, but give me ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ over luke-warm microwaveable chips any day of the week.
The money would be shared out to places like the grassroots venues to help them with the wages that are still to be paid out. This call for the help has come after some small local venues have needed to close, meaning many people have lost their job. It also means that some bands will not have a place to play meaning it could throw the future of music into disrepute.
This has been met with widespread support from his fans with them commending him on speaking out when a lot of big UK artists seem to be keeping silent on the issue. But, it is never like Liam to keep his mouth shut is it?

More recently, Liam has been busy making records. Hitting his third number one of his solo career with his recently released ‘MTV Unplugged’, finally giving him some recompense for his missed set with his old band Oasis is it? (I think that’s how you spell it) So finally he may have gotten one over on his older brother Noel. Now this is his fourth album since he made his return in 2017 with his most recent one being a collection of acoustic pieces he recorded earlier in the year.
Sometimes I wonder what Liam does during the day; some thoughts were throw darts at pictures of Noel’s face, tell himself he is John Lennon reincarnated over and over again and even knit. But political activism was not up there. But he must have been inspired by the red side of Manchester as Marcus Rashford just fed 2 million children with his campaign. So maybe Liam is the hero we both want and need. As if 2020 is not over yet, there has been enough strange happenings to last a lifetime.
