Lana Del Rey’s Glastonbury 2023 appearance was cut short after her late arrival on stage, leaving fans disgruntled and disappointed.
Del Rey kept fans waiting for an additional 30 minutes before gracing the stage at 11pm, explaining to the crowd, “I’m so fucking late they may cut my set. I’m sorry, my hair takes so long. If they cut the power, let’s keep going.”
Due to the curfew, the festival organisers were forced to cut her set short just one hour after she began her performance, abruptly pulling the plug midway through. This came after Del Rey addressed the crowds, saying, “I was so fucking late that I am about to rush this set to death.”
Del Rey continued, “If they cut the power, I’m super fucking sorry. Let’s keep on running the set as it’s supposed to go.”

Despite telling the crowds, “I love you to death,” fans were understandably feeling let down by the performer’s inability to arrive on time to deliver a complete performance. The power was cut midway through Del Rey’s planned set, forcing the crowds and Lana to complete the iconic “Video Games” a capella.

Despite the onslaught of boos from the crowd, Del Rey continued to perform with no power, approaching the crowds in the pit to perform an a capella version of “Summertime Sadness” as her final track of the night before being escorted away by her team.

Six songs were cut from the set as a result of Del Rey’s lateness, including “Venice Bitch,” an unreleased track titled “Bittersweet Anthem” and the fan favourite “Summertime Sadness,” which was performed in a rushed version as Del Rey stood barefoot in front of the pit with no microphone and no screens to aid her.
Whilst Del Rey was met with boos from the crowd at the beginning and end of her performance, some fans channeled their annoyance towards the Glastonbury organisers, with one fan tweeting that Glastonbury “did her dirty” during “the biggest show of her career.”
Nah @glastonbury firstly Lana should have been a Pyramid headliner and you did her dirty. THEN you cut her Mic off when she’s playing easily the biggest show of her career. Revolting behaviour. Especially when other artists are still playing other stages. Rude. — Emily (@EmilyG_____) June 24, 2023
Another fan called it “the best Glasto performance I”ve seen for years,” despite all the problems.
