Irish rock band Kodaline has shared a new single, “Saving Grace“, which is another preview of their upcoming fourth studio album, ‘One Day at a Time‘. The new album is set to drop on June 12 via B-Unique Records.
“Saving Grace” is the third song the four-piece has released so far from their forthcoming LP after lead single “Wherever You Are” and second single “Sometimes“. The latest track is serving us the original, sugary Kodaline track, with such romantic lyrics about two lovers who want to be each other’s saving grace in a difficult time:
“When you lose your feet, fall down to your knees, and your heart’s about to break, I will be your saving grace. When your eyes can’t see, take my eyes from me. When you’re lost and losing faith, I will be your saving grace.”
Frontman Steve Garrigan announced the new single via the band’s Youtube livestream promoting the #StayHome amidst the global pandemic of COVID-19. Garrigan also invited fans who want to appear in the music video of “Saving Grace” to send video clips: “With your camera phone, we want you to capture a day in the life of your world while you’re staying at home and keeping your community safe from the coronavirus.”
“We will edit as many of the videos as we can together and then it will be released on the 1st of May. We really look forward to seeing your videos.” The lead singer also wished to use the “Saving Grace” video as a celebration of “the feeling of being at home with your loved ones” and wanted the song to help people explore “the lighter side” of this chaotic moment.
Elsewhere, Garrigan himself just made a surprise for two NHS workers on their virtual wedding day. These two lucky newlyweds—Stefan Frost and Louise Kibbey—had to cancel their wedding due to the horrific widespread of coronavirus, and the groom himself was tested positive earlier. After Frost’s recovery, the couple decided to carry on their wedding despite the difficulty.
They held a ceremony through Zoom organised by Oxfordshire radio station JACKfm. The lovebirds chose “The One” by Kodaline as a song for their first dance, and to their surprise, Steve Garrigan appeared on the Facebook live to perform the track acoustically for the wedding.
The bride expressed such delight for having Garrigan in their virtual ceremony: “This has honestly been one of the best days of our lives and to have Kodaline performing the song that we’d planned to have our first dance to was just incredible. We feel so fortunate.” Meanwhile, the singer also said that his surprise appearance was his way to say thank you for monumental efforts made by the NHS.
