Canadian metal group Kittie have announced a 2025 headline tour of the UK and Europe. It will be the first time in a decade that the band have travelled to this side of the world. Still riding the momentum of their 2022 reunion and last year’s comeback album ‘Fire’, they will perform at The Dome in London, as well as their previously confirmed performance at Download Festival 2025. Tickets are on sale now and can be found on their website.
In 2024, the band sparked excitement for their fans, dropping new singles ‘Eyes Wide Open‘ and ‘We Are Shadows’, which shot quickly up the Top 40 at Active Rock Radio. They announced a few headline shows across the US and Canada in April, including a smashing set at the Sick New World festival in Las Vegas. Shortly after, they released a third single, ‘Vultures’, and a final fourth single, ‘One Foot in The Grave’ in May, before dropping their highly anticipated album, ‘Fire’, in June.
It’s not always been smooth sailing for the Canadian rockers – after the release of their sixth album ‘I’ve Failed You’ in 2011, they disappeared from the spotlight, going on an ‘indefinite hiatus’, playing only a one-off show in London, Ontario in 2017 and releasing their documentary, Kittie: Origins/Evolutions in 2018.
“We felt like we had to take a break, and I think that sucked some of the excitement and the fun out of it for us,” explained lead vocalist/guitarist Morgan Lander. “We did a lot of touring, and the more we hit the same markets over and over again, it felt like there were fewer people there. We weren’t sure that we could keep doing this financially, mentally and emotionally. It’s fun and everything, but sweating it out in a band was not the nicest thing to do at that point in our lives. We felt that maybe it would be okay to put Kittie aside and try a different life. It was a really hard time.”
But the Ontario four-piece found a new audience during their dormant days, seeing their music going viral on social media. In an interview with Knotfest.com’s Nu Pod, Lander says that interest grew as their songs started to be used on Tik Tok: “It’s been a really cool couple of years to see people respond to the music and rediscover the band and to be invited to cool stuff like this.”
@numetalhistorian A couple months after the release of Spit, Kittie perform Brackish live on the Conana Obrien show. Forget the fact they are girls here, they were also just some teenagers. “I think the big thing is the rediscovery. We started to notice around when we released the documentary that, you know, we started to notice music going viral on TikTok, and we were just kind of, like, ‘What’s going on here?’ And then we started getting offers, which is fantastic.”
