Australian-born singer, Kim Churchill, has released the video for his latest single, ‘After The Sun’. The single gives fans their first glimpse of what his forthcoming EP, ‘I AM’, will be like, which is scheduled to be released, on the 3rd of May 2019. The release follows the announcement that Churchill will be hitting the road, in May, for an eight-day tour of the UK and Europe. Tickets are available now and can be purchased here.
The track, ‘After The Sun’, offers an inspiring blend of relaxed acoustic instrumentals and subtle electronica, it builds through gentle, flowing verses into bold, anthemic choruses laden with a sun-drenched atmosphere. The video features stunning scenery, filmed around Berlin, with both the video and the track representing the “man-made and natural themes.”
Speaking about the video, Churchill, said: “As we started searching the city and finding things, we noticed that there were so many wonderful examples of nature jumping into buildings, re-taking over what it originally owned. That’s really inspiring for me, that the beautiful creative side to our DNA, that we just don’t understand, finds a way to come out again and again.”
The release of the track and the video, come ahead of Churchill’s eight-day UK and European tour. Churchill will commence his, eight-day, tour off in Munchen, Germany, on the 13th of May 2019, and will conclude the tour, in London, on the 28th of May 2019. Before his finishing show, in London, Churchill will perform in cities across Europe including Dresden, Berlin, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Koln, and Paris.
Churchill’s forthcoming EP, ‘I AM’, was recorded in Berlin and produced by experienced house and hip-hop producer, Vincent Kottkamp. The track, ‘After The Sun’, is the first to taken from his upcoming EP, which is the first of four EPs he will release, all of which have been recorded in separate cities around the world. While one was recorded in Berlin, the others have been recorded in Vancouver Island, Canada; The Blue Mountains, Australia; and finally London to conclude.
Churchill has lived a relatively restless lifestyle, living on the road for the past eight-years, which has made him become not just a traveller, but an artist. “I now understand the effect that the whole process of travelling has on the way I write songs and the way I create,” he says. He goes on to explain that he travelled this time intending to experience “emotional responses to a constantly changing environment” and allow that to “seep into my creative process, which has been the most liberating part of the last year of writing.”
