Katie Melua’s 8th studio album Album No. 8 released on Friday (16/10/20) to a very warm reception from critics and fans alike. Melua’s new album is available on most major streaming sites as well as music videos on YouTube. Album No. 8 is a bit of a departure from Melua’s previous work, boasting lush tones and chill vibes the more expressive and acoustic album is a welcome listening experience after her 4-year absence.
With a total of 10 tracks, Album No.8 may be one of Melua’s shorter albums but it’s in no way short on enjoyability. Accompanying the soft Pop sounds are singles such as ‘A Love Like That, and Airtime’ release earlier in the year 30/06/2020 and 24/07/2020 respectively were a nice way to get fans excited for the return of one of the UK’s most popular female artists.
Known as one of the best female artists in the UK and in Europe with over a million monthly listens on Spotify alone, Katie Melua’s new album started at a difficult time in her life. Writing started on the album shortly after she and her husband separated. It was this separation that opened up a new wave of possibilities as she feels “guilty of singing about romantic love as though it’s all meant to last for ever”
Fans waited eagerly as the release date was drawing near. Thankfully for Melua, she has yet again delivered an album that her fans adore. Not only the fans enjoyed the new release, but early reviews of Album No. 8 have also left the album in high regard with 4/5 from the telegraph, a massive 82 out of 100 from Metacritic, and showcasing on new music Friday UK playlist on Spotify.

Alongside the release of Album No. 8 Melua also released music videos for her two singles Airtime and A Love Like That. Closer to the release date she also released two more music videos for Your Longing Is Gone and Leaving The Mountain. A Love Like That and Airtime‘s video featured actor Billy Howle who featured heavily as the focal point and Melua’s love interest. Howle is known for movies such as StarWars: The Rise Of Skywalker and Dunkirk.
Katie Melua’s Album No. 8 is a very warm welcome for listeners, relaxing all as this year begins to come to an end. Album No. 8 will tide us over till her next release.
