London’s British Summer Time Festival has recently announced Kendrick Lamar as its next headlining act. The acclaimed rapper will make an appearance at the festival on Sunday, 5 July, which will also be supported by James Blake and Brittany Howard, the lead singer of Alabama Shakes.
The 32-year-old hip-hop superstar has also planned to drop a new ‘rock’ album later this year. British fans will get to taste the music from this album for the first time at the Hyde Park festival. This untitled album is a follow-up to Lamar’s critically-acclaimed 2017’s DAMN., which spawned a number of accolades for the rapper, such as Pulitzer Prize and Grammy Awards.
Apart from BST Festival, Glastonbury is also another massive music festival where Lamar is speculated to play a show. According to Emily Eavis, Glastonbury’s organiser, she hinted earlier that the two main headliners of this year’s festival will be their first time playing there, and one is male while the other is female.
The aforementioned female is already revealed that she is Taylor Swift, the American mega pop star of the generation. Swift has booked a slot for the Pyramid Stage in the night of Sunday, 28 June. Alongside the “Look What You Made Me Do” singer, Sir Paul McCartney is also announced as the main headline of the festival.
Swift is also the big headline of BST Festival. She will play a show in support of her latest praised record Lover on Saturday 11, July. There will be more announcements of who will appear as the supporting act of Swift’s show at BST Festival later on. Little Mix and Pearl Jam are too headlining the festival on July 4 and 10, respectively.
Tickets for Kendrick Lamar’s show at BST Festival will go on sale on Friday, 24 January at 10:00 GMT via AXS.
