Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has suggested that the band might be headed to the studio to record their 25th studio album. It will be their first album in more than a decade, after 2005’s ‘A Bigger Bang’.
The band, still going strong after fifty years, are due to tour in South America next year. Talking to The Sunday Times, Richards revealed that when the band met up in London recently he had a “little chat” with them about recording an album after the tour.
“I’d love to shove them in the studio in April, hot off the road,” he said, “These guys aren’t getting any younger, but at the same time, they’re getting better.”
He also talked about the allure of writing music in a studio, saying “I love studios even when they’re empty. There’s that little hum. Silence is your canvas. You look out there and you think ‘Ah the possibilities.'”
Now 71 and still in the music business after over a half a century, Richards confessed “It’s my turn for growing old. I never thought I’d get this far. Now, I have to think about this and wonder what to do with it. I don’t know, man.”
Richards also recently released his first solo album in 23 years, ‘Crosseyed Heart’, back in September this year.
