Singer and songwriter, Katie Melua, has released her new single ”Quiet Moves.” The single is the third to be released from her forthcoming album Love & Money, which debuts March 24 via BMG. She announced the news of her new album at the beginning of this year, with the release of her single ”Golden Record.” The singer is set to head off on her European and UK tour in April and will continue her tour until the end of May. The tour includes a show at the Royal Albert Hall on May 16, in London.
The brand new track from Katie Melua is reportedly inspired by the feeling of watching her partner dance for the first time. Speaking about her new single, ”Quiet Moves”, Katie Melua explained the thought process behind creating the record,
”The idea was to create a feeling of effortlessness and ease when the listener plays this album. But how do you do that when my usual method of working can sometimes feel like taking blood out of a stone, where everything else is sacrificed. As we all know, process influences the final sensibility of the work, so if I was to embark on making a Blue-Sky record, a happy record implied that I had to lighten my approach. Not just to record making but to life in general.”
”Is it possible to make a great record without sacrificing everything else for that entire period? I had to try, cause working at a relationship was something I needed to do. The strength of feeling made it easy though. How my partner is, both the serious him and the relaxed him, and the kind of atmosphere thats around him. Just being in each other’s zones feels good.”
The singer, whose real name is Ketevan Melua, has achieved 56 platinum certifications throughout her successful 20-year music career and has also had 8 consecutive UK top 10 albums. She released her first album, Call off the Search, in 2003. The album gained significant acclaim, selling 1.8 million copies within five months of the albums release. Melua continued t0 succeed in her career, releasing a further seven albums; Piece by Piece (2005), Pictures (2007), The House (2010), Secret Symphony (2012), Ketevan (2013), In Winter (2016) and Album No.8 (2020). Her forthcoming album, Love & Money, was produced by Leo Abrahams and was recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios in 2020, whilst Katie was pregnant with her son. The new album reportedly discusses subjects of self acceptance and positivity found within a new relationship.
