This coming Friday, Norwegian songwriter Kave Havnevik is to announce the upcoming album Lightship, for a release on January 21st 2022. Havnevik’s upcoming album is to be released on Continentica Records, and will be her fourth full-length release and her first one in six years.
Alongside the album announcement, she is soon to unveil a new single, a bouncy and emphatic track titled “Dream Her to Life”. Maintaining the same emphasis on pronounced drums and driving beats, the track takes a more somber turn compared to the sound on her previous release, &i, which upheld a glossy, pop-oriented sound. “Dream Her To Life” by comparison is much more stripped back; while still dominated by boom-clap drums, its instrumentation is much more sparse than her previous. Pop sensibilities are maintained without sounding over-produced. The track is expected the be released alongside the announcement for the album.
Her upcoming album Lightship is in essence a collaborative album with long-time associate Guy Sigsworth, who has worked with many prominent artists including Björk, Madonna and Alanis Morisette. The album is named after the record studio Lightship 95, a floating record studio in London, where the pair recorded the album.
Lightship is expected to employ an immense, expansive, and experimental sound, much like her previous releases. “Dream Her to Life” offers a new direction for Havnevik, experimenting with unconventional beats and using sparcity to her advantage. The release is to be announced on the 5th of November.
