Kasabian has released their first new single entitled “Alygatyr” since frontman Tom Meighan’s departure. The frontman was famously dropped from the band in 2020 following his guilty plea of assault involving his now partner Vikki Agar. Meighan has taken full responsibility for the incident and is now pursuing a solo career. The band’s new single was released today October 27th. The band shared a social media post with a cryptic clue and a 15 minute instrumental clip teasing their new single.

Kasabian formerly known as Saracuse are an English rock band that was formed in 1997 with original members Tom Meighan (Lead vocalist), Sergio Lorenzo “Serge” Pizzorno (Guitarist, vocalist, music producer and songwriter), Chris Karloff (Guitarist and songwriter) and Chris Edwards (Bassist). Ian Matthews (Drummer) joined the band in 2004 and Karloff left the band in 2006 to form the band, Black Onassis. Tim Carter (Guitarist) replaced the touring lead guitarist Jay Mehler who left the band in 2013 to join Liam Galagher’s band Beady Eye.
The band now consists of band members, Pizzorno, Edwards, Matthews and Carter. The band released their debut self entitled album Kasabian in September 2014 and released their debut single “Processed Beats” and the second single “Reason Is Treason” from the album. It was the band’s third single from the album “Club Foot” that provided the band with both commercial and critical success. The single is known as the band’s signature single, has been played at most of their concerts and is the opening single for the band’s current sold out UK tour.
The band’s new single “Alygatyr” was written by Pizzorno, who also co-produced the song with Fraser T Smith (Record producer, songwriter and musician) and Spike Stent who mixed the single. Pizzorno pursued a solo career using the pseudonym S.L.P in 2019 and is now back as the band’s frontman replacing Meighan. The group released a video of their new single following their short clip teaser. The video is similar to the clip teaser shared yesterday October 26th and the single has been described as “The start of an exciting new chapter with just over 3 minutes of pure adrenaline, fuelled by their trademark swagger”
