Today it has been announced that Kanye West has finished editing and recording the tracks for his upcoming seventh album, set to be titled ‘Swish’. In a manner that we’ve come to associate with Kanye he took to social media to announce it, deeming it the ‘best album of all time’

Kanye has time and time again been regarded as one of the most critically acclaimed rappers in this day and age with three of his albums appearing on the Rolling Stones’ 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list; not just that but his persona was been both widely scrutinized and widely applauded.
Kanye’s last album was of course ‘Yeezus’ which was released in 2013 to mixed response, with critics applauding it but his followers remaining unsold. ‘Yeezus’ however was similar to his previous albums in that he had a wide range of featuring artists performing on the album; from Frank Ocean to Justin Vernon. It is widely expected that ‘Swish’ is set to follow in a similar trend and feature a wide range of performers.
As aforementioned Kanye’s persona sometimes takes precedence over his clear musical ability, for example if you were to watch his performance at Glastonbury wherein he declared himself ‘the greatest living rock star’. And by stating ‘so happy to be finished with the best album of all time’ you can’t help but wonder whether or not he actually believes himself or is it all just for show? Either way, I know that I for one am excited to hear the album (which is set to be released February 11th).
