Kanye West had to cut short one of his concerts last night (October 2) after hearing the tragic news that his spouse Kim Kardashian West had been robbed at gunpoint in Paris.
While on stage at performing at the Meadows Festival in New York City, the rapper had just begun his iconic song ‘Heartless’, when he was given the news about his wife and he told the crowd: “I’m sorry. I have a family emergency. I have to stop the show.” The couple’s two children, North, three, and Saint, nine months, were reportedly not in the room at the time of the attack.
The reality TV star was in the city for Paris Fashion Week, when she was “was held up at gunpoint inside her Paris hotel room by two armed masked men dressed as police officers”, E News has reported. The 35-year-old was tied up and locked in her bathroom while the robbers ransacked the room. An estimated £8.5 million worth of jewels was stolen in the raid.
Accoring to the Guardian, Kim’s publicist said although she was not beaten, the men had held a gun to her head leaving her “badly shaken but physically unharmed”. After her attackers fled, it’s thought that Kim managed to free herself from her restraints and call for help.
The Meadows New York City made the announcement that the show was over via Twitter as they wrote: ‘Due to an emergency, Kanye West had to end his performance early. Please get home safely.’ He has been seen today looking worried for his wife.
It is reported that the apartments Kim was staying in are so discreet that the hotel is known as No Address, France’. The apartments are popular with many celebrities, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Mick Jagger and Madonna, especially for their ability to slip away from the paparazzi. As of Monday however, cameras have been set up outside the hotel by dozens of film crews.
Police in Paris have said they’re working to identify the robbers, but the city has been in turmoil after a drop in tourism following the recent terrorist shootings and bombings in November last year.
