Jose Gonzalez has released his new single “Swing” and the official video for the single. The video for the single was directed by Mikel Cee Karlsson who is known for his award-winning 2009 documentary Greetings From The Woods.
The director was inspired by the choreography of birds when seeking inspiration for the video. The singer who used inspiration from both West Africa and Caribbean music states that the single is about dancing and following our impulses.
The video was released via TikTok with the message #SwingYourBody inspiring self-love, body positivity, confidence and personal empowerment. The singer draws his musical inspiration from Latin America and Africa and feels that his current music is a reflection of how he is feeling at present.
The singer is part of the band Junip formed in 1998 with bandmate Tobias Winterkorn (Organ and Moog Synthesizer) and made his solo debut with the album “Venner” in 2003. The album reached number 7 in the UK Official Albums Chart and gained platinum status in the UK.
The single “Swing” is from the singer’s long-awaited fourth album Local Valley and is set for release on September 17th. The singer when discussing his new album his first in five years stated that the album is “A natural continuation of the styles I’ve been adding through the years”
The album showcases the singer’s voice in English, Spanish and Swedish. The singer further stated that the album is “My most accomplished songs to date”
The singer is to tour with his new album and is set to reach the UK shores in December.
