Royal Blood came out in the UK on 25th August 2014 via Warner Bros. Records and took the British rock scene by storm. The record debuted at #1 in the UK Official Album Chart and peaked at #1 in the US Top Hard Rock Albums, #1 in Ireland and #3 in Australia, immediately earning the band global fame and recognition.
Since its release, the album has achieved double platinum status in the UK and gold status in Australia and Canada, and was also nominated for the 2014 Mercury Prize Award. The fourth and one of fans’ favourite single ‘Figure It Out‘ is currently standing at 135 million streams on Spotify and 28 million views on YouTube.
Better known as the lead singer of British rock band The Charlatans (among many other side activities), Tim Burgess recently started hosting the Listening Parties on his official Twitter account. The channel quickly became the preferred daily evening entertainment during those long months in lockdown and has been continuously growing in popularity since the first show on 23 March 2020 when he invited people to listen to The Charlatan’s debut album.
All you have to do in order to participate is follow Burgess’ Listening Party Twitter account and play Royal Blood at exactly 9pm BST next Tuesday. People are usually invited to ask any questions to the joining band or simply share their comments and stories. Alternatively, should you miss the listening party, you can go on the website and replay the full conversation later or browse previous shows.

Royal Blood were formed in 2011 in Brighton by friends Mike Kerr (vocals, bass) and Ben Thatcher (drums). Despite using fairly straight-forward song structures and typical rock tropes, the band immediately stood out from the crowd with their infectious energy and characteristic use of bass sound in the absence of guitars and other effects.
From the first seconds of debut single ‘Out of the Black’ critics and fans were hooked on Kerr’s compositions and recognisable singing, and Thatcher’s relentless drumming. The duo wrote all the tracks in the album and recorded them fairly quickly without any samples, achieving their signature raw sound. The album was produced by Tom Dalgety, who has also worked with The Pixies, Ghost, Rammstein, Killing Joke and Opeth, among many others.
With most major live concerts and festivals currently cancelled until the end of the year, the earlier confirmed date to see Royal Blood perform live is on 28 May 2021. The band is headlining the first day of the This Is Tomorrow 2021 festival at Exhibition Park, Newcastle Upon Tyne, with main support from Blossoms and Inhaler. Tickets are already on sale through the festival’s website.
