Johnny Marr’s management has hinted through social media that they refused David Cameron’s request for free tickets to Marr’s gig in Manchester this week. See the tweet below:

Rumours have circulated that it was the Prime Minister due to the Conservative Party Conference also taking part in Manchester this week. That combined with Marr’s previous distaste for David Cameron have fueled the idea that it was the Prime Minister asking for free tickets.
Johnny Marr had previously requested in 2010 that the Prime Minister stopped liking The Smiths (Marr’s former band):

This tweet was following David Cameron saying that he would take The Smith’s ‘This Charming Man’ on a desert island when he was on the BBC Radio 4 programme ‘Desert Island Discs.’

Johnny had this to say on the album when speaking to NME:
“I wanted to capture the atmosphere and feeling of the last couple of tours. It’s been a special time and the album is a document for fans who were there, and for people who haven’t seen me and might want to check out what the shows are about. I like live records when they’re a good listen. It’s turned out really well.”
