The folk singer Johnny Flynn has released a new track from upcoming album Country Mile, giving his fans a taster of what’s to come with After Eliot.
Ahead of his appearance at the Green Man Festival in Wales this coming weekend, Johnny Flynn and The Sussex Wit has given festival goers an idea of what to expect from his performance on the Mountain Stage. After Eliot takes its inspiration from the legendary writer T.S Eliot and tells a tale of a misencounter and the follow up, where two people are unaware of the same thing happening even though they both saw it occurring at the same time. It is a slow moving folk-ballad that encompasses everything that Johnny Flynn and The Sussex Wit do well, with Flynn’s country-esque vocals serenading all who listen.
Country Mile is an album which tells the story of journeying, with each song describing a different element of the journey. Following the first taste of the record it seems like one not to miss out on when it is released in late September. It will be Johnny Flynn and The Sussex Wit’s third record, after 2008’s A Larum and Been Listening, which surfaced in 2010. After a two year hiatus from the stage, the group will be itching to get back on stage and showcase their new material, and with a gargantuan tour of the US as support to Mumford and Sons in September, it is sure to be a action packed couple of months for the talented ensemble. They will then return to Blighty in October as part of their European tour in support of Country Mile, and the dates can be found below.
