Jesy Nelson has reportedly delayed the release of her new debut solo single. The singer has allegedly pushed back the release to feature P.Diddy in the music video.
Nelson has been posting cryptic videos and photos via her Social media platforms to promote her new release.
Nelson’s upcoming single entitled “Boyz” uses a sample from one of the legendary artists and producer’s biggest hits. The sample is taken from P.Diddy’s 2001 smash hit “Bad Boy for Life”, the single was released from Diddy’s third studio album The Saga Continues…. Otherwise known as Sean Combs, P.Diddy has become of music’s most influential artists. With a career spanning over thirty years, Combs has become synonymous with hits and success, boasting various accolades and awards. The artist’s debut album No Way Out has been certified platinum seven times, after which various successful compilations and studio albums followed suit.
Combs is also known as the founder of the record label Bad Boy Records; the artist launched his own label in 1993, the label has since become a division of major conglobate Sony records. The label has worked with both new and iconic artists such as The Notorious BI.G, Faith Evans and Machine Gun Kelly. Much to Nelson’s delight, her new single’s music video will allegedly feature a cameo from the three-time Grammy-winning artist. Due to this reportedly exciting news, “Boyz” may receive a later release schedule.
A source has spoken to the Bizarre column from The Sun newspaper concerning the delayed-release and the alleged exciting inclusion of P.Diddy. Within the statement, the source also explains how the delay would mean that Nelson would not have to compete in sales with Ed Sheeran’s newest release. “’Boyz’ has been pushed back by a couple of weeks due to unforeseen circumstances but it now means that P Diddy himself will make a cameo in the clip, which is incredible for Jesy. Jesy is determined for everything to be perfect and won’t cut corners when it comes to the release. The delay is not ideal as they had already started teasing the track on her socials, but Jesy and the team are making things work. Jesy is making the final touches to the video and it will be worth the wait. The track is still planned to drop next month, though the second half is more likely – especially as releasing on September 10 would put her up against Ed Sheeran’s next single, so she wouldn’t stand a chance when it comes to the charts.”
The new single “Boyz” marks Nelson’s first solo release since her departure from her former group Little Mix in December last year. Nelson and her former bandmates were brought into the limelight through the TV talent competition X-Factor, since their formation, the girl group grew to accumulate immense chart success and popularity. Recently Little Mix, now consisting of three members Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock announced the release date for their newest album Between Us, set to be released on 12th November 2021.
Nelson has provided the following statement expressing her excitement concerning her new solo career whilst describing what fans can expect. “This is the music that I’ve always wanted to make. I don’t think that anyone’s gonna expect this. This is the new chapter for me.”
