Singer James Arthur have released a new single and music video ‘Medicine’. It is the first song from the artist this year with his latest single being the acoustic version of ‘Train Wreck’ in 2020 and last album ‘You’ in 2019. Arthur has confirmed that he has been writing a new album during the Covid-19 pandemic in which ‘Medicine’ will be featured.

In an interview on Hit Radio with Fleur East, James Arthur opened up about struggles he faced last year, saying: “I was a bit drained at the start of 2020. My health was suffering a little bit and we cleared the diary for the year to give me a bit of rest bite, before Covid came along. I was able to focus on myself. I thought ‘Great, there’s no gigs coming up and there’s no pressure points, I can just focus on one thing’ but I’m now at a point where I’m ready to get on the stage again.”
James Arthur was the winner of the ninth season of The X Factor in 2012 and has many released many hits since. His debut single, ‘Impossible’, went to number one on the charts, making it the show’s most successful single from the winner. Other singles by The X Factor winner have been a hit, including ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ which was number one for three weeks and ‘You’re Nobody ’til Somebody Loves You’, which peaked at number two. Arthur has released three albums in total, ‘James Arthur’, ‘Back from the Edge’ and ‘You’.
The music video for ‘Medicine’ premiered on YouTube at 5pm and Arthur went live 15 minutes before to introduce the single and talk to fans. Talking more about the song, he said: “The video is about me, who was vulnerable at the time, tormented by the good and evil, which are the two forces in my life. The little boy in the video represents some of the childhood traumas I went through. That kid comes back in my sleep to torment and haunt me now.”
