Isolated vocals belonging to Liam Gallagher from the hit Oasis song, ‘Supersonic’ have been released online. The vocals have been lifted from the band’s headline show at Glastonbury in 1995. They have been described as “biblical”, and “historical”. The video on Youtube was edited by Oasis fan site user Maxi Gonzales.
In an interview with The Express, brother Noel discussed the infamous 1995 gig at Worthy Farm, and the regret behind the decision to premiere six of the songs off their next album, ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’.
The tracks at the time were virtually unknown, with Noel saying. “Oasis never really had their Glastonbury moment. We never really got on with it. I couldn’t tell you why. Lord knows we had the tunes but the times that we did it when we should have been great was the first year we headlined it and we got sidetracked.”
Noel added. “We’d just come out of the studio making Morning Glory and we decided, which was suicide, to play six tracks off Morning Glory which no one had heard, one of them being Champagne Supernova which goes on for about half an hour.”
“It was the only time we’ve played Don’t Look Back in Anger to silence. And by the time we played (Glastonbury) a second time (in 2004), our moment had passed. So I’d be up for doing it again.”
Liam in the meantime is preparing for a UK Arena Tour in November, which will see him perform in cities including Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool and Dublin, with the full list of shows below. On September 20, Liam released his second solo album, ‘Why Me?, Why Not’, given three out of five stars in The Guardian, which said. “It does what it sets out to do: provide Gallagher with material hooky enough that the arena crowds don’t storm the bars and lavatories when he stops playing Oasis songs. As Liam Gallagher knows, for his audience at least, that’s enough.”
