English producer India Jordan has announced that they will be releasing a new EP. Watch Out! is set to come out on the 7th May 2021. This news comes alongside the release of single And Groove. The EP follows the release of last year’s critically acclaimed For You.
Jordan took to Instagram to post about the EP, writing: “am super excited/emotional/bit nervous to announce my next EP – Watch Out! On @ninjatune on the 7th May… Ninja Tune has been one of my go-to all time favourite labels since I was about 16, so to say this means a lot to me is an understatement, I’m still pinching myself now!! Got a lot to say about this release, and I’m so excited for you to hear it. More to come in the coming weeks but for now hope you enjoy And Groove!”
Speaking about the track, they added: “And Groove was made in peak lockdown number one and is reminiscent of a train journey – repetitive and rhythmic movement that goes on and on (and groove!)”. The EP will have a distinctly urban feel, with Jordan using edited samples taken from recordings of city streets in the tracks. Alongside And Groove are songs Only Said Enough, Watch Out!, You Can’t Expect The Cars To Stop If You Haven’t Pressed The Button and Feierabend.
The producer and DJ only released their first original material, 2019 EP DNT STP MY LV, after DJing for ten years. Jordan was quickly tipped as one to watch, and the release of their EP For You sparked interest in the mainstream press – they appeared in Pitchfork’s 100 Best Songs of 2020 and Crack Magazine’s Top 25 Tracks of 2020, and were named as Pete Tong’s Breakout Star of 2020.
Jordan came out as non-binary in 2019, posting on Instagram: “I don’t identify as female (I rly dislike being called a “female DJ” generally so pls don’t do that) and over the last couple of years gender has felt quite fluid for me. What I feel I fully identify with isn’t something I’m certain on – which is partly why I’ve been hesitant to post something for ages, I feel like I’ve needed to “make up my mind” and “be certain” but we all know it’s not as easy as that, and it mightn’t be something I’m ever sure of.”
