IDLES have announced that they will be expanding their UK and Ireland 2021 tour in May and June to other cities in Europe. They have also added two dates in July in Germany.
The initial tour was announced two weeks ago in an Instagram post, where it was confirmed that the band would be visiting Glasgow, Newcastle, Cardiff, Birmingham, Sheffield, London, Manchester and Dublin. The new cities include: The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, France and Belgium.
IDLES will be releasing their third album Ultra Mono on the 25th of September via Partisan Records ahead of the tour. The band have released singles from the album like Grounds, A Hymn and Model Village. In an interview with DIY following the album’s announcement in June 2020, lead singer Joe Talbot opened up about the themes and inspiration behind the album, saying: “Emotionally I’m not healed, I’m healing and that’s what’s on the record. So, this one is about processing and finding pragmatic ways of moving forward, and from your reaction to that trauma, you build something concise and beautiful…the songs are all projections of inner workings, I’m not preaching or telling anyone else what to do. I’m showing people what I’m doing to become a better person in the long run – no, not better, but a more productive person.”
Tickets for the added dates go on sale at 11am CEST on Friday September 11th. The band are also offering a limited number of free tickets for key workers which are available on a first-come-first-served basis, which are available here. The full list of tour dates are as follows:
