Hozier today (February 13) has announced a series of UK and European tour dates for late this year. The singer/songwriter will perform a total of 26 shows, including dates up and down the UK in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff and Glasgow. The UK leg of the tour will be kick started in, Birmingham, on the 15th of September 2019, concluding with five very special shows, at the iconic London Palladium, from September 30 – October 5 2019.
The Irish musician will be taking his second album, ‘Wasteland, Baby!’ on the road this summer – beginning with the European leg of his, 26-date, tour. He is schedule to kick start the tour, in Denmark, on the 19th of August 2019, concluding in France, on the 13th of September 2019.
The announcement of the tour comes ahead of the musician’s new album, ‘Wasteland, Baby!’, which is due to be released on the 1st of March 2019. The album comes as a follow-up to Hozier’s hugely successful self-titled debut, which was released, in 2014, and featured the breakthrough hit single, ‘Take Me To Church’.
Speaking to NME earlier this week, the singer described how ‘Wasteland, Baby!’ was inspired by the darkened state of the world when he began writing the record, in 2016. He explained, “It’s trying to look at the warm centre of human kindness and you find that in ‘Wasteland, Baby!’. While there’s other songs on there that have doom and gloom and might touch upon it, Wasteland Baby goes straight for it.
“It lets us imagine how the worlds might end in a very real sense. But, as long as there’s people, that ‘You and I’, there’s always potential for kindness and that is something to be hopeful about.”
Hozier is also scheduled to play, at Cork’s Irish Independent Park, on Tuesday the 25th of June, and Belfast Ormeau Park, on Thursday the 27th of June 2019. Hozier’s tour dates can be seen in full below, and tickets can be purchased here.
