The announcement for “As It Was” came days after the initial promotion for the singer’s upcoming album, Styles began to tease the release of Harry’s House on 23rd March 2022. The hitmaker shared a trailer for his forthcoming third solo album which confirmed the release date of 20th May 2022. The singer has taken a somewhat abstract approach to promoting the new single and Harry’s House; two additional social media accounts were set up under the name You Are Home. The new Instagram account contained posts of arched doors and the new Twitter page also contained mysterious content. During the same period a new website entitled YouAreHome.co was launched The site also uses a heavy theme of doors within its graphics and animation.

The album was received well by critics, enjoyed commercial success and reached number two on the UK album charts. The certified double-platinum album also received numerous awards and nominations, and the lead single “Watermelon Sugar” won a Brit Award for British Single Of The Year and a Grammy award for Best Pop Solo Performance.
