Organisers of Camp Bestival have confirmed today (September 30th) that the beloved music festival will return in 2021. This comes as no surprise during the era of coronavirus – Camp Bestival is amongst the thousands of festivals across the world forced to postpone their 2020 plans to next year.
The 2021 instalment of Camp Bestival will commence on Thursday, July 29th, until Sunday, August 1st. The beautiful Dorset estate, Lulworth Castle, will remain as the stomping ground for Camp Bestival 2021.
DJ Rob Da Bank and BBC Radio 1, co-curators of Bestival’s “little sister” disclosed an official statement regarding Camp Bestival on social media today. Rob Da Bank, aka Robert John Gorham, divulged details of the music festival via a post to Instagram: “Step up very special guest Kelis making a huge comeback at the moment…add in Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess live, a proper standalone comedy tent, a new clubby space for parents and teens and loads more fresh ideas!”
Groove Armada and Fatboy Slim will lead the lineup for Camp Bestival 2021. Other big names confirmed for the music instalment of the festival are singer-songwriter Tim Burgess, indie-rock band Friendly Fires, the legendary Kelis, and vocalist Becky Hill.
DJ Rob Da Bank also had this to say after the festival’s initial postponement due to Covid-19: “Take two indeed! Take one was looking pretty good through the lens but take two is taking things to a whole new level with some amazing new additions to our cast.”
In addition to a stellar music lineup, Camp Bestival boasts a Full Moon Cinema, yoga, meditation and a brand new comedy venue, Giggle Box. Irvine Walsh, the author of cult novels Trainspotting and Filth, is set to headline the comedy section of Camp Bestival. Tickets for Camp Bestival 2021 will go on sale 10:00am on Friday October 2nd.
In other news, dance duo Groove Armada are about to release a brand new album. The release date for Edge of The Horizon is just around the corner, and is set to hit streaming platforms on Friday October 2nd.
Edge of The Horizon will be the ninth studio album by Groove Armada, and will follow the 2015 LP, Little Black Book. Andy Cato, one half of Groove Armada, recently spoke out on making the new album, saying “During those studio days, the rest of the world shuts down. There’s an intensity, anyone looking in might say madness, that kicks in when we’re totally lost amongst the instruments, synths and records day and night.
Cato is confident that Edge of The Horizon will live up to fans high expectations. The Superstylin’ singer said “that shared, unspoken feeling that comes when we both know we’ve got it right cuts through as clear as ever.”
Groove Armada enlisted the help of Todd Edwards Lover 4 Now, the latest taster of the new album. You can listen to Lover 4 Now here.
