Picture this: a last-minute ‘House Of Blues’ gig in Anaheim – Green Day plays their new album ‘Saviours’ in full, as well as some of Dookie and some American Idiot deep cuts.
It happened!
With The Saviors Tour fast approaching, Green Day just warmed up for their stadium epic with a last-minute show in Anaheim.
The punk legends from Oakland hit the 2200-capacity House of Blues last night (19th of March) and debuted their entire Saviours album live, although not necessarily in order.
That done, they then cracked on with some practice from Dookie and American Idiot (both of which will be played in full on the Saviours tour).
Indeed, at the HOB, they dusted off American Idiot’s deep cuts, Give Me Novacaine, for the first time since 2017, and She’s A Rebel and Extraordinary Girl for their first full band performances since 2005!
Green Day is an American rock band formed in the East Bay of California in 1987 by lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt, with drummer Tré Cool joining in 1990. In 1994, their major-label debut, Dookie, released through Reprise Records, became a breakout success and eventually shipped over 10 million copies in the U.S. Alongside fellow California punk bands Bad Religion, the Offspring, Rancid, NOFX, Pennywise and Social Distortion, Green Day is credited with popularising mainstream interest in punk rock in the U.S.
