Pitchfork reports that Gorillaz have continued to build buzz for their new album by announcing that they will headline their own festival. Demon Dayz will take place in Margate, England on June 10 this summer. The festival will only last for one day, taking place at the Dreamland amusement park, with guests allowed full access to the rides. The event will also be streamed live on Red Bull TV, but as of yet, Gorillaz themselves are the only confirmed acts for the festival. Tickets go on saleon Friday March 10 at 9am, and tickets can be bought at the festival’s official website here.
The announcement of the brand new festival comes after the release of the single ‘Hallelujah Money’, featuring Benajmin Clementine, the lead single from the band’s new album, which also took aim at President Trump. As of yet, there is no official release date for the new album, and was initially expected to land before the end of 2016. However, band collaborator Jamie Hewlett described the project as “really fuckin’ special”, and as being something that “couldn’t be rushed.”
